Researchers Visit Nan Province to Enhance Environmental Monitoring

A team of researchers and experts, led by Prof. Dr. Kanchna Kanchanasut, recently concluded a three-day visit to Nan Province (January 21-23) to assess and improve environmental monitoring efforts in the region.  The trip included collaboration with Silpakorn University and RECOFTC Thailand.

The team engaged with community leaders, educators, and local officials in Baan Manee Phruek and Baan Sawang villages, focusing on optimizing the use of air quality sensors.  Participants included Prof. Dr. Kanchna Kanchanasut and the research team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Jai Thanathasanwong and Mr. Theerapat Choewiwattana from Silpakorn University, and Lecturer Rattakawi Boonmekh from RECOFTC Thailand.

Key Activities and Outcomes:

Baan Manee Phruek Village (January 21):  Discussions with Village Head Mr. Wijit Kireethirakul centered on ensuring the proper maintenance of the air quality sensor deployed in the area.

Baan Sawang Village (January 22):  The team met with Village Head Mr. Samak Yod-orn at the Baan Sawang Community Hall to address air quality sensor maintenance.  The team also met with representatives from the Nong Daeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) to discuss the network of air quality sensors deployed across the sub-districts and explore potential collaborations.

Phu Kha National Park (January 23):  A meeting with Mr. Chaiphat, Chief of Phu Kha National Park, provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for forest fire monitoring, a critical component of environmental protection in the region.

This visit highlights the research team’s commitment to supporting environmental sustainability in rural communities.  The collaborative efforts with local stakeholders and partner organizations are expected to lead to more effective environmental monitoring in Nan Province.

The core component of the laboratory will be on research activities.
